Harmony MD

How does HarmonyMD CCV-3 deliver more flavanols than the amount used in the research, and what does the label show per serving?

The largest cocoa-flavanol trial, COSMOS, used a concentrated extract providing about 500mg flavanols a day. One scoop of CCV-3 is built to deliver roughly 2.2x that, with the per-serving numbers printed on the label instead of hidden inside a cacao percentage.

Flavanols and (-)-epicatechin per serving: CCV-3 vs. the research and common formats
Source Cocoa flavanols (-)-Epicatechin Sugar Format
CCV-3 (one scoop) ~1,200mg ~600mg 0g Drink mix
COSMOS research amount ~500mg ~80mg n/a Capsule (extract)
CocoaVia Cardio Health ~500mg ~80-135mg varies Capsule / powder
Dark chocolate bar (100g) ~90-800mg, unlabeled not listed typically high Bar

Why "2.2x the amount used in the research" is the honest frame

The COSMOS trial (Am J Clin Nutr, 2022, ~21,000 adults) did not test chocolate. It used a concentrated cocoa extract in capsule form providing about 500mg cocoa flavanols a day, including roughly 80mg (-)-epicatechin. That figure is the useful reference point because it is what was actually consumed in the research. One scoop of CCV-3 is formulated to deliver about 1,200mg cocoa flavanols, close to 2.2x that daily amount, plus the polyphenols that ride alongside them. We frame it against the research on purpose, so you can see how the serving compares instead of reading a marketing round number with nothing to anchor it to.

What the label shows per serving, and why epicatechin matters most

CCV-3 lists the numbers that actually drive the effect. Per scoop: about 1,200mg cocoa flavanols and about 600mg (-)-epicatechin, the specific flavanol most studied for supporting nitric oxide and healthy endothelial function. Epicatechin per serving is where the gap is widest and the fairest way to compare. The COSMOS amount carried roughly 80mg, and CocoaVia Cardio Health lands near 80 to 135mg per serving. CCV-3 sits meaningfully above both. A cacao percentage on a bar tells you none of this. Percentage is not flavanol content, and alkalizing (Dutching) can strip 60 to 90% of the flavanols before the bar is even wrapped.

Why the drink-mix format is part of the number

High flavanols usually arrive with a tradeoff: sugar in a bar, or capsules you swallow blind. CCV-3 is a zero-sugar, ~27-calorie drink mix built from five real ingredients with non-alkalized cacao, so the potency is not diluted by the delivery. You stir one scoop, you get the labeled amount, and nothing is working against it. EFSA has recognized that 200mg of cocoa flavanols a day helps maintain normal blood-flow-dependent vasodilation, and a single CCV-3 serving clears that several times over inside a calm morning ritual. The amount and the format together are the whole point. Meet CCV-3 -> /products/harmonymd-pure-cocoa-flavanols-flavonoids

Frequently asked

Does CCV-3 give the same amount as the COSMOS study?

No, it gives more. COSMOS used about 500mg cocoa flavanols a day with roughly 80mg (-)-epicatechin. One scoop of CCV-3 is formulated for about 1,200mg flavanols and about 600mg epicatechin, close to 2.2x the amount used in that research. CCV-3 is not the COSMOS product.

Why not just eat dark chocolate?

A bar's cacao percentage does not tell you its flavanol content, and most bars do not list it at all. Values range widely, from about 90 to 800mg per 100g, and alkalizing can destroy 60 to 90% of the flavanols. CCV-3 lists the exact per-serving amount so you know what you are getting.

How does CCV-3 compare to CocoaVia?

On epicatechin per serving, the fairest comparison, CocoaVia Cardio Health sits around 80 to 135mg, while CCV-3 is formulated for about 600mg. CCV-3 also comes as a zero-sugar drink mix rather than a capsule.

What do cocoa flavanols actually support?

Cocoa flavanols and (-)-epicatechin help support nitric oxide production and healthy endothelial function, which supports healthy blood flow. EFSA recognizes 200mg of cocoa flavanols a day for maintaining normal blood-flow-dependent vasodilation. This is educational, structure/function information, not medical advice.
